What's new at Barthe
2024 TARIFFS AND AVAILABILITY NOW LAUNCHED
After several years of travelling disruption, summer 2023 saw a return to ‘normality’ as many British holiday makers were able to enjoy their taste of France again and it was good to see so many familiar faces!
We hope that 2024 will continue with this trend as several airlines are improving their schedules and introducing new routes to our closest airports for this coming summer. We look forward to welcoming our guests, both old and new, for an enjoyable holiday at Domaine de Barthe.
We are therefore pleased to publish our 2024 rates and now offer booking availability for our 2024 holiday season. As our returning clients know it is always advisable to book early to guarantee the dates you want, particularly if you are considering multiple occupancy for a large group.
Booking our 4 gites together means that we can offer accommodation for groups of up to 20 people! Our buildings and facilities are set out on an acre of ground surrounded by a further 5 acres of our own vines – so there is plenty of space for everyone! We have many communal spaces such as our games barn (with table tennis , pool table and library etc.); BBQ area (with brick built BBQs and a full size covered Petanque court); a large swimming pool with its spacious terrace/patio area and, of course, our huge courtyard where our 3 cottage gites open onto. Every gite also has its own outside space (Fitou Apartment is a little more private being accessed just outside the courtyard).
Whether you’re returning or holidaying with us for the first time as an individual or extended family (or other group) we look forward to helping you have a great 2024 holiday experience here!
‘MADE IN DOUZENS’ WINE EXPERIENCE
Five of Douzens leading vignerons (wine makers) have got together to form a new marketing initiative called ‘Made in Douzens’. The vignerons are; Domaine Py, Ste Marie des Crozes, Colline de l’hirondelle, Regazel & Chateau de Fontenelles. They all produce top quality wines and have several gold medal winners amongst them. They offer a wine-tasting experience at each of their ‘caves’, followed by a midi meal at one of their premises, on the first Sunday morning of EVERY MONTH.
They also offer wine sales supporting the very popular Douzens weekly market/soiree held every Wednesday evening during July & August. An experience not to be missed if you are staying here during that period!
They will also be creating other experiences throughout the season and you can find out more at their Facebook page.
FOOD SHOPPING (AND FUEL) IS NOW CLOSER
Just 2 kilometres from us is our local Intermarche supermarket with a fuel station! Classed as a ‘contact’ supermarket it offers a good choice of food and drink items with daily fresh bread and a fresh meat counter. This is extremely convenient for our guests staying here for arrival shopping and top ups!
EATING OUT IS NOW CLOSER!
We’re proud to have our local restaurant ‘L’Art & Gourmand’ in Douzens. Set in the old Douzens railway station (approximately 1 kilometre from us) the building has been completely restored to provide first class dining inside and outside under a covered terrace. We also have the popular ‘Top du Roulier’ hotel and restaurant in Capendu (2 kilometres from us) and also ‘the Idiot du Village’ restaurant to give further local dining and refreshment options.
LONG TERM WINTER LETS
Long winter lets are an affordable way to seek out milder weather, enjoy inspirational tranquility, search for your dream French property or just try out living in France.
If you simply can’t face the prospect of a long and dull British winter, a long winter let can be a great way for you to follow the sun without the expense of buying your own holiday property, especially if you are retired and have the flexibility to live abroad for several months. The average maximum temperature in January can be a very comfortable 12 degree Celsius in Languedoc – more than double the average temperature in most of the UK at that time of year!
All our cottages are available for winter lets (low season months 1st November to 30th April) . Contact us for full details, prices and terms.
NEW MINIMUM STAY PERIODS!
Due to popular demand we have now relaxed our minimum 7 night stay period outside of the peak season months of July & August. We now accommodate a minimum stay of 3 nights at all other times! See our rates page for nightly costs.
This will enable our clients to enjoy the facilities at Domaine de Barthe and also take advantage of the many low cost travel deals offered by the budget airlines, cross channel ferries and train services.
